When Cadbury’s launched their Dairy Milk chocolate in 1905, there was a tremendous increase in demand. The first Cadbury milk condensing factory was built at Knighton, Staffordshire and in 1915, a second factory was built at Frampton-on-Severn, Gloucestershire, right in the heart of dairy country. Both plants were alongside canals which allowed economical transportation to Bournville. Milk was brought in from surrounding farms. The churns were left on landing stages and collected twice daily.
